Security Attendant Full Time

Abington Friends School is an ambitious Quaker school community with a powerful academic program for children age 3 through grade 12. More information is available at Friend School seeks a full-time security attendant to work evenings and weekends. This is a 12 month position.

Primary Duties

• Lock and unlock campus and building entrances and exits as needed for renters and employees in the evening and on weekends.
• Provide a presence on campus during non-school hours both inside and outside giving direction and information to campus visitors when needed.
• Patrol school grounds and parking areas in order to ensure a safe environment.
• Monitor campus for environmental hazards illegal activities and vandalism; reports or takes corrective action as required by school policy.
• Assist persons with vehicle problems when possible such as having locked keys inside their cars or dead batteries.
• Monitor building conditions and assess situation and call for help if needed.
• Records information regarding security and monitoring activity; maintains logs and writes activity reports.
• Help with snow removal when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required supplemented by a minimum of six months previous security military or enforcement vocational training or experience.
• Must have demonstrated interpersonal skills for addressing potential conflicts.
• Requires successful completion of employment background screening and verification; requires valid state driver license if driving is required as part of job.
• The ability to take charge but deal professionally and calmly in emergency situations.
• The ability to analyze security and safety risks and make appropriate recommendations in a school setting.
• The ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral form.
• The ability to work effectively with employees students parents school administration other visitors and renters as well as local law enforcement representatives.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Occasionally be able to lift push pull or carry equipment and materials weighing 50 pounds or more.
• Be able to crawl reach and occasionally run and drive a vehicle in the normal course of duties.
• May deal with highly stressful situations in the normal course of duties.
• Tasks are regularly performed with some risk of exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dust humidity rain temperature extremes traffic hazards and violence
