We have an opportunity for aLawyer or Associate to join our thriving national General Insurancepractice working with a highly regarded team based inBrisbane.
Our national General Insurancepractice advises on and manages litigated claims for a number ofmajor insurers reinsurers and corporates and on behalf ofsignificant clients in a wide variety of industries. We sit on thelegal panels of Australias top general insurers as well as anumber of other local and international insurers.
The primary focus of this rolewill be property/construction insurance including high-quantumproperty recoveries as well as first-party insurance/indemnitydisputes property damage defence claims and general insurancematters.
You will be responsible forand have carriage of your own files with appropriate supervisionfrom our supportive and industry leading partners.
You will be responsiblefor:
- client interaction and strategy;
- working with a team of lawyers;
- reviewing documents and preparing evidence;
- drafting correspondence to the Court and third parties;
- conferencing with witnesses and preparing witness statements;
- preparing briefs for counsel;
- drafting Court documents and attendance at Court;
- drafting client advices; and
- drafting letters of instruction to experts.
Aboutyou
You will ideally have thefollowing skills and experience:
- minimum three years of post-admission experience in general insurance law;
- experience in property/construction recoveries liability defence acting on behalf of insurers;
- experience in the day-to-day management of files and in running matters through court proceedings;
- experience supervising mentoring and delegating to junior lawyers or paralegals will be well regarded;
- a team player with a can do attitude and a strong interest in defendant insurance law;
- excellent technical analytical and drafting skills with a keen attention to detail;
- excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
- the ability to organise and prioritise effectively.
