Job Summary
JOB SUMMARY
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
- Renders professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital and carries out orders placed by provider responsible for the patient s medical care. Provides comprehensive clinical documentation including care plans each shift
- Seeks feedback regarding practice and takes actions as appropriate.
- Communicates patient information appropriate for continuity and safe care through Bedside shift report Multidisciplinary rounds and Hourly Rounding (AIDET)
- Compliant in achieving unit specific competencies and requirements
- Completes all net learning modules within timeframe identified.
- Helps to promote a culture of well-being (ex. decreasing alarm fatigue).
- Promotes a positive culture/atmosphere within the department each shift.
- Provides a safe and secure environment for patients visitors and staff by following established procedures and protocols
- Identifies and assists in correction of patient care safety issues.
- Works within guidelines of Just Culture Environment to promote error reporting and adoption of safe practices.
- Assures issues are addressed through appropriate use of the chain of command
- Participates in Daily unit-based safety Huddles
- Knowledge and understanding of the organizations over-all strategic plan
- Remains up to date with unit-based nurse sensitive indicators (such as CAUTI CLABSI CDIFF HAPU FALLS HH and VAE).
- Actively participates in quality initiatives and performance improvement to improve patient outcomes.
- Collaborates with nurses in other department/units to draw upon expertise in other clinical areas/specialties
- Seeks opportunities to assist all team members
- Develops and implements performance goals based on self-assessment and performance feedback
- Assures patient education materials are culturally competent
- Serves as preceptor for new nurses
- Participates in DNV survey readiness.
- Demonstrates practice that is consistent with the tenets of shared governance and with the philosophy of the unit and the organization.
- Assists with solution identification in response to problems and conflicts
- Effectively delegates aspects of care and unit activities to other nursing personnel.
- Collaborates in planning supervising and instructing other nurses and assistants.
- Works collaboratively with nursing students and instructors
- Participates in peer feedback process of annual reviews.
- Participates in the employee engagement survey
- Demonstrates characteristics of the SPIRIT of St. Joseph Hospital with a commitment to my co-workers and holds peers accountable for the same
- Avoids use of unauthorized overtime
- Completes dysrhythmia course prior to completion of orientation. Required for all telemetry-based departments.
- Maintains current nursing licensure and certifications required for the department
- Other duties as consistent with this role.
Job Requirements
Job Knowledge and Skills
- Basic Dysrhythmia preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientation
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientation
- Willing/Able to Float to Psych units as needed
Education and Experience
- Current New Hampshire RN license required
- Basic Life Support certification required
- Graduate of an approved Nursing program preferred
