JOB SUMMARY

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
• Renders professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital and carries out orders placed by provider responsible for the patient s medical care. Provides comprehensive clinical documentation including care plans each shift
• Seeks feedback regarding practice and takes actions as appropriate.
• Communicates patient information appropriate for continuity and safe care through Bedside shift report Multidisciplinary rounds and Hourly Rounding (AIDET)
• Compliant in achieving unit specific competencies and requirements
• Completes all net learning modules within timeframe identified.
• Helps to promote a culture of well-being (ex. decreasing alarm fatigue).
• Promotes a positive culture/atmosphere within the department each shift.
• Provides a safe and secure environment for patients visitors and staff by following established procedures and protocols
• Identifies and assists in correction of patient care safety issues.
• Works within guidelines of Just Culture Environment to promote error reporting and adoption of safe practices.
• Assures issues are addressed through appropriate use of the chain of command
• Participates in Daily unit-based safety Huddles
• Knowledge and understanding of the organizations over-all strategic plan
• Remains up to date with unit-based nurse sensitive indicators (such as CAUTI CLABSI CDIFF HAPU FALLS HH and VAE).
• Actively participates in quality initiatives and performance improvement to improve patient outcomes.
• Collaborates with nurses in other department/units to draw upon expertise in other clinical areas/specialties
• Seeks opportunities to assist all team members
• Develops and implements performance goals based on self-assessment and performance feedback
• Assures patient education materials are culturally competent
• Serves as preceptor for new nurses
• Participates in DNV survey readiness.
• Demonstrates practice that is consistent with the tenets of shared governance and with the philosophy of the unit and the organization.
• Assists with solution identification in response to problems and conflicts
• Effectively delegates aspects of care and unit activities to other nursing personnel.
• Collaborates in planning supervising and instructing other nurses and assistants.
• Works collaboratively with nursing students and instructors
• Participates in peer feedback process of annual reviews.
• Participates in the employee engagement survey
• Demonstrates characteristics of the SPIRIT of St. Joseph Hospital with a commitment to my co-workers and holds peers accountable for the same
• Avoids use of unauthorized overtime
• Completes dysrhythmia course prior to completion of orientation. Required for all telemetry-based departments.
• Maintains current nursing licensure and certifications required for the department
• Other duties as consistent with this role.

Job Requirements

Job Knowledge and Skills

• Basic Dysrhythmia preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientation
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientation
• Willing/Able to Float to Psych units as needed

Education and Experience

• Current New Hampshire RN license required
• Basic Life Support certification required
• Graduate of an approved Nursing program preferred
