About the role:

As the Senior Social Worker within the Intermediate Stay Mental Health Unit (ISMHU) youll play a key leadership role in a supportive multidisciplinary team. Working alongside a Level 1/2 Social Worker youll champion recovery-oriented practice while guiding rehabilitation-focused care for people with complex mental health needs.

This is a hands-on clinical and leadership position where youll contribute to coordinated person-centred care. Youll deliver psychosocial assessments facilitate individual and group interventions that support recovery and independence and help shape a positive collaborative team culture. The role also offers opportunities to influence service development through participation in district-wide quality improvement initiatives as well as providing supervision and mentorship to junior staff.

Where youll be working:

The Intermediate Stay Mental Health Unit (ISMHU) is a 20-bed non-acute rehabilitation unit dedicated to supporting people with enduring mental health challenges and psychosocial disability.

As part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team youll help deliver tailored recovery-focused care in a therapeutic environment. People typically stay for 612 weeks working towards building practical skills confidence insight and meaningful connections that support long-term wellbeing.

Requirements:

  • Must hold as a minimum a bachelor degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
