Outwood Academy Bydales is an 11-16 school located in the beautiful coastal village of Marske-by-the-Sea close to the North York Moors National Park and with spectacular views of the coastline. We are extremely proud of our tradition of serving the families of the community of Marske and surrounding areas. Our recent Ofsted Inspection recognised the many strengths of the school as we secured judgements of Good across all areas. The report was extremely positive and had many highlights including that we are an ambitious school with high standards that Staff care deeply for pupils that Pupils are happy and demonstrate industrious attitudes to learning and that Pupils experience great success.
We are looking to appoint a dynamic enthusiastic and inspirational teacher of science to join our experienced department with 6 fully equipped science labs and excellent technical support. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who really wants to make a difference to the lives of young people. Our single goal is Students First and you will be joining a strong team of professionals led by an experienced head of department working to this sole aim. Student outcomes are excellent year on year. Studying the AQA specifications our top set of students study separate sciences with the remainder studying Higher and Foundation Combined 2025 78% of our students attained at least grade 4 and above 65 % grade 5 and above and 33% grade 7 and above. Many of our students go on to pursue A Levels in science subjects post 16. We also run several enrichment activities at the end of the school day aimed at both supporting students in the run up to GCSEs and to widen the experiences of the subject by offering a KS3 science club.

Responsibilities
The Teacher is expected to implement and use a wide range of teaching and learning strategies within the classroom applying techniques like Assessment for Learning (AfL) to continually improve student performance. A core duty involves effectively using student level data to identify areas for development and raise standards.
This professional must be aware of strategies available for improving the learning and achievement of all students alongside possessing a good understanding of curriculum developments within their specific subject area. The role requires maintaining high expectations for all students and effectively communicating with students and their parents both orally and in writing. The teacher is expected to work collaboratively as part of a team sharing good practice across the department and demonstrating creativity in problem solving and a willingness to adopt new approaches.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications include a degree in an appropriate discipline related to the relevant subject and a teaching qualification coupled with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Required experience includes recent and relevant teaching experience (either in employment or training) and experience of assessment at Key Stage 3 and 4.
The successful candidate will be confident in using standard computer packages (word processing email and spreadsheets) and understand how these tools can enhance student learning. The role demands high levels of professionalism including the ability to relate to students in a pleasant and sympathetic manner and a capacity to recognise potential child safeguarding issues.
