As a Day Program Specialist / Direct Support Professional (DSP) youll play a vital role in empowering participants to reach their fullest potential-socially physically and emotionally-while ensuring their safety dignity and independence are always prioritized.
What Youll Do
- Provide hands-on support with daily living activities including hygiene meals and mobility
- Implement individualized program plans and engage participants in enriching activities
- Foster a positive respectful and inclusive environment
- Support community outings and meaningful social experiences
- Maintain accurate documentation using agency systems
- Assist with safe transportation of participants using agency vehicles
- Respond calmly and effectively to behavioral or emergency situations
What Were Looking For
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Connecticut drivers license with a clean driving record
- Ability to obtain CPR First Aid AED and Medication Administration certifications
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Comfort using computers and basic software
- A compassionate patient and reliable approach to care
Physical & Work Environment
This is an active hands-on role that includes:
- Assisting with lifting transferring personal care/hygiene and mobility support
- Frequent standing walking bending and reaching
- Working in environments with varying noise levels and conditions
- Attend community outings and events with indivduals
- driving agency vehicles
- Following safety sanitation and infection control protocols
