Edmonton is a city of energy history and the natural beauty of the North Saskatchewan River Valley. We are looking for a collaborative and community-minded leader to take the helm of our newly formed Attractions Culture and Nature branch.
If you are a leader who values people heritage and the outdoors this is an opportunity to manage a diverse team of 850 staff dedicated to making Edmonton a great place to live play and visit.
Reporting directly to the Deputy City Manager of the Community Services Department you will be responsible for a complex operation with a $50M expenditure budget and $25M in annual revenue. Your influence spans:
- Major Landmarks: The Edmonton Valley Zoo Muttart Conservatory and Fort Edmonton Park
- Heritage & Culture: City Archives Artifacts Centre and the John Walter Museum
- Nature & Recreation: 23 River Valley Parks 3 Municipal Golf Courses and the John Janzen Nature Centre
- Civic Vibrancy: Over 800 annual events festivals the City Arts Centre and liaison with critical partners
- Legacy Services: 7 Municipal Cemeteries
Your Impact:
- Inspire a Dedicated Team : Lead a team of 5 Directors and 850 staff fostering an environment of psychological safety collective pride and relentless excellence.
- Catalyze Bold Innovation: Serve as a change agent sparking creativity in the organization to ensure Edmonton remains at the forefront of urban culture and nature.
- Lead Strategic Growth: Align the Branchs revenues and public policy goals with City Councils vision ensuring every dollar invested builds a more vibrant city.
- Champion Partnerships: Act as the Citys primary bridge to key civic partners and agencies leveraging and amplifying our collective strengths as a city.
- Plan Infrastructure: Drive the evolution of our citys landmarks by sponsoring major capital and planning projects that transform facility master plans into reality.
- Elevate the Experience: Lean into technology and best practices to drive continuous improvement ensuring our service delivery is as seamless as it is memorable.
- Steward Civic Resources: Navigate the annual budgeting process to ensure resource allocation is strategic equitable and focused on the long-term health of our citys assets.

Conditions of Employment and Work Environment:
- 1 permanent full-time position
- Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week Monday - Friday. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite
- Salary: (Annually) $195497.00 - $244374.41
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton. There may be a cost associated with this requirement
