Senior Manufacturing Engineer CNC Machining (Automotive)
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer (CNC Machining) with strong automotive manufacturing expertise. This is a hands-on shop-floor engineering role focused on CNC programming process optimization and continuous improvement to drive productivity quality and efficiency in high-volume production.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimize CNC machining processes to improve OEE throughput and scrap reduction
- Develop modify and validate CNC programs for lathes and milling machines (vertical & horizontal)
- Lead toolpath strategy cutting optimization tooling selection and workholding improvements
- Troubleshoot machining issues (cycle time tool wear chatter dimensional variation)
- Support process capability (Cp/Cpk) first-piece approval and quality validation
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with Quality Maintenance and Operations teams
- Develop and maintain process documentation work instructions and standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience
- 5 years of CNC programming and machining experience in automotive manufacturing
- Strong experience with CNC lathes and milling machines (Fuji Mori Seiki preferred)
- Proficiency in Mastercam (or similar CAM software) and AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of GD&T blueprint reading and tolerance stack-ups
- Experience with CMMs tool presetters and measurement systems
- Knowledge of SPC process control and capability studies
- Hands-on shop floor troubleshooting experience
Preferred Qualifications
- High-volume automotive manufacturing experience
- Multi-axis machining experience
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
- ERP/MES system experience
- Experience leading process improvement projects
