Analyst I (EML Vancouver) Eurofins Experchem Laboratories, Inc.

Reporting to the Microbiology Laboratory Manager or designate the Laboratory Analyst I is primarily responsible for performing basic to intermediate microbiological testing as assigned. This includes but is not limited to pre-incubation activities such as media preparation enumeration testing and sample enrichment as well as post-incubation processes including rapid testing using VIDAS and various PCR platforms along with applying general knowledge of microbiological cultural methods.

OVERALL OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrates and supports the companys vision and values.
• Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Reads understands and complies with all applicable management system requirements related to assigned responsibilities including the Quality Manual SOPs local work instructions and validated methods. Ensures adherence to ISO/IEC 17025 and relevant regulatory standards.
• Follows all health safety and environmental policies related to analytical work; contributes to maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment.
• Receives and registers incoming samples as required; maintains accurate organized and complete records of daily activities including quality control and regulatory documentation.
• Enters sample data into the Eurofins eLIMS system accurately and within required timelines.
• Performs laboratory testing on incoming samples accurately efficiently and within established turnaround times; meets or exceeds service expectations.
• Reviews and verifies test results ensuring timely submission to appropriate personnel.
• Conducts testing using PCR and other rapid methods including platforms such as Hygiena BAX and VIDAS.
• Performs assigned steps in cultural methods for pathogen detection.
• Builds and sustains positive working relationships; communicates effectively both verbally and in writing across departments.
• Upholds the companys reputation by practicing ethical and professional standards in all interactions.
• Continuously seeks opportunities to improve quality efficiency and client service through existing and emerging technologies.
• Identifies and reports non-conformances and out-of-specification results in accordance with procedures.
• Performs all duties safely and efficiently.
• Completes additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications :

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proactive solutions-focused approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety practices including WHMIS training.
• Troubleshooting skills to support routine instrument maintenance.
• Technical knowledge of relevant microbiological test methods.
• Flexibility to work overtime weekends and holidays as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will be working in a laboratory environment where standing is required for greater than 50% of the time to work at the bench for analyses. Light lifting requirements of no more than 20 lbs. Evening and weekend shift work may be required.
