Job Summary

Japanese company seeks a candidate for Purchaser/Procurement Specialist.

A. JOB PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for managing the purchasing and supply chain process within the organization. This role includes sourcing negotiating and purchasing products and services to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of materials needed for business operations. You will work closely with vendors suppliers and internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with organizational goals ensuring compliance with quality cost and delivery standards.

B. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supplier Management: Identify evaluate and establish relationships with suppliers. Conduct supplier assessments including performance reviews and contract negotiations.
Sourcing and Purchasing: Research market trends and identify potential vendors for goods and services. Solicit bids compare quotations and ensure competitive pricing and value for the organization.
Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts terms and pricing agreements with vendors to ensure the organization secures favorable terms and reduces risks.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels to ensure the timely procurement of materials. Collaborate with relevant departments to forecast demand and avoid stockouts or overstocking.
Cost Optimization: Identify cost-saving opportunities through improved procurement processes volume purchasing and supplier negotiations while maintaining quality standards.
Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies legal regulations and industry standards. Manage risks related to supply chain disruptions delivery issues and quality control.
Vendor Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular reviews of supplier performance quality and delivery timelines. Address and resolve supplier issues in a timely manner.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of procurement activities including purchase orders contracts and supplier agreements. Prepare reports on purchasing trends costs and supplier performance.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments such as Finance Operations and Production to align procurement activities with business needs and goals.
Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve procurement processes procedures and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

C. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Business Administration or related field.
3-5 years of previous experience in procurement or purchasing
Strong negotiation communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of contract law and procurement best practices.
Ability to read and interpret written documents and correctly understand verbally spoken explanations.
Experience and high-level knowledge of business in general accounting trading and logistics preferred.
Native speaker of English language or equivalent.
To attend tele-conferences with Japan out of normal work time is required from time to time.
Domestic travel is necessary dependent on vendor/supplier/factory locations
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
Experience in transportation equipment or transit authority industry is a plus
(Optional) Basic knowledge on transportation industries
(Optional) Knowledge of Japanese Language


D. PHISICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Self-starter highly motivated independent work skills and program skills
Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to gather necessary information.
You are faced with constant interruptions and must meet and communicate in person by computer and by telephone with others on a regular basis.
You must spend long hours on the computer which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
There are a number of deadlines associated with this position which may cause significant stress.
Light work such as moving objects is required occasionally.
