This role is responsible for preparing system programming and operations documentation including user manuals and standard operating procedures. The Documentation Specialist ensures all documentation is accurate current and aligned with program requirements supporting knowledge transfer operational continuity and compliance with Army and DoD standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare edit and maintain systems programming and operations documentation including user manuals SOPs and technical guides.
Maintain a centralized documentation library ensuring all materials are current accessible and properly version-controlled.
Review and update documentation to reflect system changes process updates and operational improvements.
Collaborate with technical teams project managers and Government stakeholders to gather and validate documentation requirements.
Ensure documentation aligns with program standards Army policies and operational procedures.
Support development of process documentation workflow diagrams and knowledge transfer materials.
Assist in documenting system configurations installation procedures and operational processes.
Participate in reviews of deliverables and technical outputs to ensure documentation completeness and accuracy.
Support onboarding and training efforts by providing clear user-friendly documentation for end users and support staff.
Track documentation updates and maintain records of revisions and approvals.
Assist in preparing documentation for audits inspections and program reviews.
Basic Qualifications Required Education Certifications Skills and Experience
Education: Bachelors degree in Information Technology Technical Writing Business Administration or related field
Associates degree with 7 years of relevant experience may substitute for the bachelors degree requirement
Minimum 5 years of experience developing and maintaining technical or operational documentation
Experience supporting IT systems programs or enterprise environments
Experience creating user manuals SOPs and technical documentation for system or operational use
Familiarity with documentation standards version control and knowledge management practices
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and document accuracy
Ability to translate technical information into clear user-friendly documentation
Strong organizational and document management skills
Ability to work independently while coordinating with technical and non-technical teams
