Post: Hospital Foreman

Department / Hospital / Cluster: Business Support Services Department / Wong Chuk Hang Hospital or St. John Hospital or Family Medicine Clinics / Hong Kong Island Cluster

Pay: HK$23725 to HK$30244 (HGPS Point 7 to 11) per month including Monthly Allowance

Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. To assist the Chief Hospital Foreman in the supervision and delivery of business support services in the following areas:

(a) Housekeeping and domestic services pest control;

(b) Patient portering and material transportation;

(c) Linen and uniform exchange;

(d) Security carpark management and road control;

(e) Mortuary operation including dead body transfer and claims;

(f) Capital works and facility management;

(g) Landscape and gardening;

(h) Waste and green management;

(i) Contractor management;

(j) Occupational safety & health.

2. To supervise and train the security guards and supporting staff.

3. To liaise with services users department/ unit heads service contractors and external stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration in the day-to-day provision of services.

4. To closely monitor the services quality through regular site inspections ensure compliance and implement improvement actions as to ensure better business support service at the operation level.

5. To handle emergencies and other ad hoc incidents independently including prepare preventive measures provide necessary logistics supports reports and documentation.

6. To handle staff issues including:

(a) Duty rosters planning and maintaining staff records;

(b) Staff discipline and performance monitoring;

(c) Staff orientation and training to non-clinical supporting staff.

7. To keep stock and control of materials store items and other equipment items.

8. To perform on-call duties and work outside normal working hours.

9. To perform shift duties and is required to report duty during adverse weather such as typhoon and black rainstorm and other emergencies.

10. To perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s).

Entry Requirements

1. (a) 3 years satisfactory service in the HA or

(b) 2 years supervisory experience in hospitals hotels cleansing service facilities management or other related services/ industries.

2. Have shown the potential to lead and supervise staff.

Preferred Attributes

1. Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent with:

(i) Passes in 5 subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination including English Language(Syllabus B) Chinese Language and Mathematics or equivalent;

OR

(ii) 5 subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education attaining the level specified below:

- Level 2 or above in English Language Chinese Language and Mathematics; and

- Level 2 or above in New Senior Secondary subjects/ Attained or above in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of 2 subjects under this category) / Grade E or above in Other Language subjects;

or equivalent.

2. Completed F.5 / S.5 or above or equivalent AND have received training on hospitality property management or relevant subject.

3. Good knowledge and work experiences in hospitality industry property management housekeeping services or hospital supporting services.

4. Obtained a valid Security Personnel Permit issued by the Hong Kong Police Force.

5. Ability to read and write Chinese and English and speak fluent Cantonese.

6. Good knowledge of computer applications e.g. MS Word Excel PowerPoint and Chinese Word Processing etc.

7. Good communication interpersonal organizational and supervisory skills.

8. Mature self-motivated independent and responsible.

9. Willing to perform on-call duties and work in other hospital / clinic sites within Hong Kong Island Cluster.

10. Ability in handling ad hoc and emergency duties.

11. Good team spirit able to work under pressure and accomplish tasks within tight schedule and dedicated to quality services.
