HIRING RANGE:Anticipated hiring range is near or at the minimum of the classification

commensurate with candidates education experience skills and training.

Definition of Classification:

The Assistant Mens Soccer Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the University of Redlands Mens Soccer program including team instruction and recruitment efforts. Reporting directly to the Head Coach this position plays a key role in advancing the mission of the University the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Bulldog Mens Soccer program. The Assistant Mens Soccer Coach is expected to uphold and comply with all University NCAA and SCIAC rules regulations and policies. This position requires flexibility including availability for night and weekend commitments and may involve extended travel for competitions and recruiting purposes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Supports head coach in identifying evaluating and recruiting qualified prospective student-athletes based on ongoing roster expectations determined by the Head Coach Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletic and the Admissions
• Assist with master recruit database
• Arranges and conducts on- and off-campus visits with prospective student- athletes.
• Assists with on-field coaching training practice design and skill
• Manages and tracks student-athlete academic progress and provides necessary support including but not limited to student referrals to campus
• Manages administrative tasks such as travel arrangements practice schedules transportation team logistics weekly reports equipment management and team fundraising.
• Supports head coach with planning execution and maintenance of all aspects of the programs social media sites (i.e. Facebook Twitter Instagram etc.).

• Scouts opponents and prepares scouting reports for head coach and team members.
• Functions as an active team member of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by attending all required staff meetings and completing mandatory
• A collateral departmental administrative assignment to be performed in support of programs and the Such assignment will be determined by the strengths skills and experience of the successful candidate.
• Performs other duties and special projects when assigned to support team departmental and/or University-wide

Qualifications Guidelines:

Any combination of experience/training/education equivalent to but not limited to the following:

Required

Bachelors degree required.
Three years of soccer coaching experience.
Demonstrated ability to recruit and attract high-achieving student-athletes.
Clear understanding of NCAA Division III philosophy and the role of physical education recreational sports and athletics within a private liberal arts academic setting.
A valid California Class C CA drivers license with a good driving record is required. Note: Out-of-state licenses are valid until appointment. A valid California Class C drivers license must be obtained within ten (10) days of appointment (in accordance with CA Vehicle Code 12505c).
Current certifications in First Aid CPR and AED.

Preferred
Preference given to those with at least one year of intercollegiate soccer coaching experience.
Coaching license.
Masters degree.

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules.
Knowledge and understanding of the NCAA Division III and SCIAC philosophy rules and regulations.
Possess the ability to attract outstanding students to the University.
Knowledge and understanding of the role of physical education recreational sports and athletics in a private liberal arts academic setting.
Strong interpersonal motivational and team leadership skills to work effectively with athletic participants.
Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.
Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
Ability to lead with professional integrity and ethical standards in compliance with appropriate safety rules and regulations.
Knowledge of personal computers and personal computer software and applications.
Aptitude to learn new and evolving technology.
Ability to recommend appropriate courses of action within established guidelines.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
Understand interpret explain and apply applicable federal and state policies and laws.
Ability to foster strong positive relationships and align both internal and external resources to achieve university objectives.
Must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students faculty and staff.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Works inside and outdoors. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures dirt dust fumes smoke unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. The work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions. May be required to travel for extended periods of time for athletic contests and recruiting activities. Requires flexibility to work nights and weekends as required by the teams schedules.
