Transmission Analyst
Location: New York City
Working within the Commercial Analytics team the Transmission Analyst is responsible for the daily execution and maintenance of software used for modeling transmission basis. This role supports the valuation of renewable generation assets and complex power market transactions across North America. The Transmission Analyst will focus on data integrity nodal price forecasting and providing analytical support to the trading and investment teams reporting directly to the Vice President Commercial Operations.
Responsibilities
- Data & Model Management: Support the maintenance of transmission network models ensuring all input data is accurate up to date and reflective of current grid conditions.
- Software Execution: Operate Dayzer (or similar transmission modeling tools) to produce reliable nodal LMP forecasts across multiple ISOs for both short-term and long-term scenarios.
- Analytical Support: Analyze model outputs to identify transmission congestion impacts and validate the accuracy of price forecasts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with trading teams to run ad-hoc sensitivity cases and provide data-driven insights into market dynamics.
- Reporting: Assist in the preparation of regional price forecast presentations for management highlighting key congestion drivers and market trends.
- Inter-Entity Support: Respond to data and analysis requests from various business units ensuring high-quality technical support across the organization.
- Decision Support: Provide quantitative analysis of short-term transmission dynamics and long-term trends to assist in project decision-making and trading strategies.

Required Experience
- Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Economics or a related quantitative discipline.
- Technical Stack: Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python Matlab or R) is required.
- Modeling Expertise: 13 years of experience utilizing Dayzer PLEXOS PROMOD or a similar transmission modeling tool.
- Market Knowledge: Foundational understanding of the US bulk power system and LMP-based ISO markets.
- Data Tools: Advanced knowledge of MS Excel; experience with SQL or Business Intelligence tools (Tableau/Power BI) is preferred.
