Job Summary
The Team
The BC Prosecution Service a dedicated team working in a fast-paced and evolving legal environment to support the fair and timely administration of justice across British Columbia. The team collaborates closely with Crown Counsel police and justice partners to manage increasing demands related to complex legal requirements and growing volumes of digital evidence while upholding public confidence in the justice system. The Role
The Legal Assistant provides essential support to Crown Counsel by helping prepare prosecution case files and ensuring materials are organized and ready for court. Working in a fast-paced and high-profile environment this role requires strong communication teamwork and attention to detail with responsibilities that may vary across different communities and office settings. The team values diverse perspectives and fosters an inclusive workplace where collaboration respect and adaptability are key to supporting fair and accessible justice for all.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a recognized Legal Assistant certificate OR an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
- Administrative experience which may include one or more of the following:
- Office experience working in a confidential capacity.
- Experience managing calendars scheduling meetings and making travel arrangements.
- Experience typing drafting formatting proofreading and editing a variety of documents.
- Experience establishing and maintaining administrative systems procedures and standards such as a bring forward system.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Successful completion of a Legal Assistant or Paralegal certificate or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of administrative experience.
- At least 1 year of recent experience (within the last 3 years) working as a Legal Assistant in a legal office.
- Recent experience (within the last 18 months) working for the BC Prosecution Service. o Experience working in the criminal justice sector.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
