What youll do

Viasat is looking for a dynamic Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing this exciting role you will be responsible for the design documentation production support and environmental testing of advanced government communication productsspanning ground aerospace and space platforms.

The day-to-day

Daytoday responsibilities include creating and maintaining fabrication and assembly drawings providing mechanical support to manufacturing for multiple government and spacequalified production programs supporting environmental acceptance and qualification testing and creating or updating thermal and structural analyses for missioncritical hardware. You will join a strong mechanical design and analysis team in Tempe contributing to reliable highperformance systems used in demanding operational environments.

What youll need

• 3-5 years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering.
• Design experience creating 3D parts and assemblies using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD system.
• Experience creating releasing and maintaining fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Experience performing mechanical testing on packaged electronics such as shock vibration and thermal vacuum.
• Ability to manage allocate and derive requirements.
• Proficiency in MS Word Excel and Power Point
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written and has the ability to work with others from multiple disciplines
• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar relevant engineering degree
• U.S. Citizenship Required
• Up to 10% domestic travel

What will help you on the job

• Experience with SolidWorks and ePDM software.
• Electronics packaging design experience.
• Familiarity with space environmental requirements.
• Experience with ANSYS Workbench or similar FEA software.

Salary range

At Viasat we consider many factors when it comes to compensation including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience.
