About the position:
The Service Assurance Technician will be directly involved with engineering residential business and MDU deployment. You will work closely with construction upon FDH launches to ensure a smooth launch. This position will be responsible for the locating of our fiber optic lines as needed.
What you will do:
Locate fiber optic lines throughout our entire plant.
Audit cabinets and NAPs for issues prior to market launches.
Assist with construction tickets including:
Rodding Conduit
Locating fiber points and vaults
Performing minor restoration work as needed
Maintain operational readiness through tasks such as:
Equipment cleaning and packaging
Inventory organization and tracking
Survey and engineer enterprise business and MDU projects.
Perform quality checks on installation technicians.
Fantastic customer service skills and professional attitude
Assist with maintaining and updating facility records.
Physical ability to work in various environments such as attics crawl spaces and adverse weather.
Operate company vehicle/equipment safely and professionally.
Perform on-call rotation duties after regular business hours.
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people.
Your experience:
2 years of fiber optic experience fusion splicing preferred.
Possess and maintain a valid state drivers license and acceptable driving record.
High school diploma
Ability to lift and move up to 80 lbs.
Weigh less than 285 lbs since this is required for ladder safety.
At times work in small confined spaces or aloft (up to 28 ft.)
Be available for overtime emergency callouts and holiday work.
Ability to identify wire and cable colors.
Must be able to manage multiple projects at one time and prioritize them.
Physical ability to work from a kneeling or standing position for long periods.
Ability to read prints and assist with redlines/construction drawings.
Your preferred qualifications:
Residential/business fiber installation experience
Outside plant fiber optic splicing and troubleshooting experience
Outside plant cable locating experience
Project Management is preferred but not required.
Able to use Microsoft suite of applications including word excel and power point.
Skilled in basic telephony and computer equipment
Familiar with PLP/Coyote cases and following best practices for installation.
Familiar with aerial drop/cable installation mechanical terminations and testing.
Moderate network troubleshooting skills
Experience with VoIP and customer alarm systems.
Fiber optic training certifications
