The Opportunity:

Darby Vassall Lane Upper School seeks a passionate and creative educator to join our team as a 6th Grade Teacher. As a Grade 6 Teacher you will commit to providing a diverse group of student learners with superior instruction using the district curriculum and common assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with all team members including but not limited to special educators instructional coaches paraprofessionals interventionists and other support personnel
• Support students in using technological tools including Chromebooks and Google Docs.
• Incorporate a variety of assessment strategies including district-wide exams and formative assessment in order to inform instruction and target intervention and enrichment needs
• Integrating social learning into the classroom will work to foster a safe caring and active learning community
• Partner with families and include them in the students learning and development as well as encourage families to further the mission of the school
• Build on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizations

Your Skill Set:

As the incoming Teacher you will possess many though perhaps not all of the following characteristics and qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree required; Masters degree preferred.
• Massachusetts teacher certification/licensure required.
• Recent successful experience teaching middle school in a student-centered classroom with inquiry-based methodologies in an urban multicultural setting.
• A love for children and a desire to work with upper school students.
