We are looking for reliable resilient and motivated people to join our teams as Casual Child and Family Support Workers. This is a handson frontline role working directly with children young people and families and making a visible difference to everyday lives.

Responsibilities

About the role

As a Casual Child and Family Support Worker you will play a key role supporting children who are:

  • in care
  • in need
  • or at risk of harm

Working as part of a multiagency wholefamily team you will help families stabilise reduce risk and build safer routines.

This is a frontline relationshipbased role that requires confidence flexibility and the ability to engage positively with families even in challenging situations.

Your work will include:

  • Providing practical and emotional support to parents and carers keeping children at the centre of all decisionmaking
  • Working directly with families in their homes and community settings including:
    • practical home support and cleaning
    • completing forms and paperwork
    • attending and arranging appointments
    • shopping cooking and daytoday problem solving
  • Supporting children and young people to access positive activities in the community helping reduce pressure on families and antisocial behaviour
  • Delivering safe and structured supervised family time maintaining clear boundaries and expectations
  • Undertaking welfare visits including evenings weekends and outofhours where required
  • Writing clear factual case notes and reports following each intervention
  • Identifying concerns and raising safeguarding issues immediately in line with procedures
  • Giving clear advice guidance and signposting around child development and parenting using evidencebased approaches

This is a varied handson role where no two shifts are the same and where your input can have an immediate and visible impact.



Qualifications

About you

We welcome applications from people with a variety of backgrounds including community work youth work care education mentoring sports coaching or similar frontline roles.

You will:

  • Hold a Children Young People & Families Practitioner qualification Level 3 qualification or have substantial relevant experience
  • Have experience working with children young people and families ideally in a safeguarding or statutory setting
  • Be confident building clear respectful and professional relationships
  • Be comfortable working independently using your judgement while knowing when to escalate concerns
  • Be able to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understand child development safeguarding and risk management
  • Demonstrate a commitment to equality fairness and confidentiality
