We value all members of our team in a supportive environment in which everyone is treated with appreciation and respect and positioned to do their best work every : This summer the Arts and Culture department within JCamps will be offering two theatre arts camps. The first camp of the summer is Habimah Arts Camp a multi-disciplinary summer camp giving children grades from 1st -4th exposure and skill-building in both visual and performing arts. Each camp day consists of several classes within these fields from Baltimores finest artists and instructors. The program also incorporates swimming outdoor time and field trips. Habimah counselors will assist and help support the teaching artists in their classes to help ensure that campers have a successful and enjoyable experience as well as assist in the smooth run of the final showcase for performers and audience members alike. For two four-week sessions Childrens Theatre Production Camp (CTPC) will offer additional performance production-based summer camps. CTPC Jr.s Shrek Jr. and Mary Poppins Jr (3rd 8th ) will prepare full length age appropriate musicals. Each camp day will include musical theatre preparatory classes auditions rehearsals and the final product of a full production. Both programs also incorporate swimming and field trips. Selected counselors will be working with the director to help run rehearsals review material with campers work backstage for the production and any other duties assigned to them in relation to the show. Also looking to hire counselors who will serve as stage managers and assistant stage managers for the two upcoming the supervision of the Director of Youth Arts Education ideal candidates are prepared to be role models to their team and campers alike have a can-do demeanor has experience and loves working with children and has experience in or avid appreciation for the performing arts. Those who wish to be selected to work alongside the artistic team must have experience in stage management or qualifying comparable experience. Counselors may be placed to work one or both camps dependent on YOU WILL DO:Supervising campers and keeping them on schedule entertained and safe. Work effectively with the camp team to provide age-appropriate camp activities and be able to lead groups of campers in these activities and high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff. Provide the daily care of each camper within your supervision including recognition of personal health needs. Ensure that campers receive their medications as directed by Health Care Manager. Be alert to campers and staff needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems; discuss with camp health manager and/or camp director when appropriate. Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization proper care and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to camp the camp when interacting with parents or community members. Provide parents with appropriate feedback and information as needed for their campers to have a successful camp experience. Follow safety and security protocols when campers are in public while presenting a positive image of the in other JCamps events as in training staff meetings supervisory conferences committees and special events. Additional responsibilities for those who also act as stage manager:Attends all production meetings including preproduction during and post rehearsals under the Directors supervision and guidanceCommands a rehearsal when needed to do so but to remain patient and ever inclusive to all students as per the JCC and CTPC out rehearsal reports to the creative team and alerts the team when there is something that needs to be addressed immediatelyInitiates setup/teardown rehearsal space record blocking reset props calls lights sound and backstage assignments during tech and for seeing that the event is executed within the vision of all artists involvedCalls the show and oversees the cast and crew during the run of the eventPerforms other duties as assigned by the directorPerform other duties as YOU ARE:Several years of experience as camp counselors or other related experience with children ages 6-13Strong organization communication and collaboration with the ability to be flexibleComfortable with Jewish culture Must be graduating high school in 2026 in college or a college or interest in performing and/or visual management candidates must have 1 years in stage management or qualifying comparable SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment is usually fast paced. This job requires high energy and interaction with staff as well as with members other agency staff community leaders and outside partners vendors others. The workspace may be noisy at performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. COMMITMENT:Hours are from 8:00AM-4:45 PM daily preferred entire camp commitment from June 22nd August 14th . Additional options for early drop off and late pickup are available for additional compensation. Extension with precamp and post camp weeks are also available. Required orientation is the week prior to camp; exact dates and times are TBA. Stage management positions may be required to attend preproduction meetings. Priority is given those qualified individuals with all summer AND BENEFITS:Salary Scale Range: $2800-3250; dependent on role (Co-Counselor or Senior Counselor) experience and Membership: Upon completion of orientation and successful summer employment summer hires will be given a JCC membership to utilize the JCC facilities through December 31st full-time summer hires receive one child free to attend JCamps.
