Job Description
The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures at Virginia Tech invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish position to begin August 10 2026. The standard teaching load is 3/3 courses per academic year. Service duties may include but are not limited to conducting assessments as well as engaging in extracurricular activities and student recruitment.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. by time of appointment in Spanish language literature culture language pedagogy second language acquisition or related field
Demonstrated excellence in teaching Spanish at a range of undergraduate levels to non-native speakers
Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English
Preferred Qualifications
At least three years of experience teaching Spanish to non-native speakers at the university level
Familiarity with contemporary second language teaching methodologies
Knowledge of instructional technologies
Overtime Status
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
