Job Title: Emergency Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)

Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Days (7:00 AM 7:00 PM)

Position Summary

A healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Emergency Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to provide direct and indirect patient care in a fast-paced crisis setting. The RN will utilize the nursing process to assess plan implement and evaluate patient care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop implement and update individualized patient care plans
• Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes and adjust care accordingly
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care
• Identify patient needs and connect them with appropriate resources
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR system
• Provide compassionate care in a high-acuity psychiatric environment

Patient Population

The Crisis Psychiatric Unit serves patients aged 5 and older presenting with:

• Major depression
• Bipolar disorder
• Adjustment disorders
• Psychotic disorders
• Substance detoxification needs

Mandatory Requirements

• Permanent residence must be more than 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates must not be former employees of the facility
• Candidates with licensure issues will not be considered

Education & Licensure

• Associate Degree in Nursing (minimum requirement)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maine
• Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification required
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification (must be current prior to start)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of mental health/psychiatric nursing experience (required)
• Minimum 3 years of overall RN experience

Additional Job Details

• EMR System: EPIC
• Holiday coverage required
• Up to 16 hours of orientation may be unpaid
• Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility

Required Certifications

• BLS/BCLS
• CPI
