(This is a grant-funded non-tenure track position through 5/1/2027. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.)

Position Description: This is an opportunity for highly motivated independent and innovative individuals to combine aquatic invertebrate biology and open technologies in a highly interdisciplinary environment. Responsibilities include one or more of following duties: (1) independent research and process development for germplasm cryopreservation reproductive physiology of aquatic invertebrates; (2) collaboration with engineers and designers to produce hardware devices for germplasm preservation; (3) close coordination for repository development with national stock centers and groups that provide aquatic invertebrates research; (4) development of manuscripts and presentations to disseminate information; (5) animal husbandry of aquatic invertebrates or (6) coordination of outreach efforts for community development. Work after hours including weekends may be required periodically. Familiarity with aquatic invertebrates and reproductive biology is strongly preferred. Experience with CAD 3-D printing and open hardware is preferred including a strong desire for intersectoral collaboration.
Qualification Requirements:
- B.S. in Natural Resource Ecology and Management or a related field
- Experience in aquatic invertebrate husbandry and specimen handling
- Experience with reproductive biology techniques or cryopreservation concepts
- Demonstrated project management or leadership experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with additive manufacturing (e.g. 3D printing CAD)
- Familiarity with open-source hardware development
- Experience working in interdisciplinary or industry-collaborative environments
- Experience with liquid nitrogen handling and cryogenic systems
Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
