Job Description:
The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused professional to serve as Reprographics Office Assistant in the Office of Communications and Creative Services. This position provides essential administrative and production support by operating printing finishing and cutting equipment to deliver high-quality engineering documents maps contracts publications and other departmental materials.
The role requires both technical expertise and strong organizational skills to ensure timely accurate and efficient reprographic services that directly support MaineDOTs mission of providing safe reliable and accessible transportation for the people of Maine.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain digital and toner-based production printing equipment including presses with Fiery servers.
Use imposition and job preparation software (e.g. Freeflow/Makeready) to prepare process and finish print jobs.
Perform binding finishing and cutting tasks to produce high-quality printed documents.
Provide reprographic services for engineering documents maps contracts publications and outreach materials.
Collaborate with staff across departments to meet reprographic needs and deadlines.
Maintain accurate records of production jobs inventory and supplies.
Provide excellent customer service and act as a knowledgeable resource for reprographic requests.
Support the Office of Communications and Creative Services with additional administrative or production tasks as assigned.
Preference will be given to candidates with:
Experience with production-level reprographics or print shop operations.
Knowledge of imposition and prepress software (Freeflow/Makeready or similar).
Experience working in a government engineering or communications environment.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign Photoshop Illustrator).
Minimum Qualifications
Training education or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex varied office support tasks and 2) the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow information to process and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I Office Assistant II and Office Associate I.
