NATURE AND SCOPE

The Director Development and External Affairs provides strategic and operational leadership in philanthropic development Foundation relations alumni engagement as well as external communications. The role is pivotal in aligning all external efforts with the Colleges mission and long-term strategic goals enhancing its visibility and impact through strategic partnerships and major development initiatives.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and implements a strategic philanthropic development plan aligned with the Colleges educational mission strategic plan and institutional priorities
  • Leads the activities of a fundraising office which is responsible for fundraising campaigns major gift solicitation donor management accountability and compliance with philanthropic standards and regulations
  • Liaises with the Marianopolis Millenium Foundation which manages endowment funds and charitable assets of the Foundation approves donor agreements and administrative grants from the Foundation to the College.
  • Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with businesses municipalities community organizations government bodies chambers of commerce and regional socio-economic networks
  • Fosters strong relationships with alumni to encourage support and involvement
  • Oversees the areas of external communications public relations marketing and overall media interactions
  • Represents the College at external and internal events consultation tables and any other networking events related to institutional development and partnerships
  • Ensures the effective organization of the department and provides day-to-day leadership and mentoring to the department staff members
  • Collaborates effectively and efficiently with all internal stakeholders to ensure successful engagement and relationships
  • Fulfills other duties as required


PROFESSIONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Knowledge of Quebec philanthropic landscape and/or philanthropy field in general
  • Appreciation for the Colleges mission vision and values (excellence community collaboration responsibility and heritage)
  • Growth mindset and commitment to an ethos of continuous improvement
  • Service-oriented attitude with a flexible and caring approach

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree in Public Relations Communications Marketing Business Administration Management or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous experience in leadership roles in the field of development or external affairs
  • Experience in education or public sector environment (advantage)
  • Excellent communication skills both in French and English (verbal and written)

WORKING CONDITIONS

The employment conditions are established as per the Colleges Management Handbook:

  • 30 days to 35 days of annual vacation
