TITLE: Specialist Visually Impaired
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To work on an educational team developing implementing and monitoring programs favorable to learning and personal growth for visually impaired students (preschool through 8th grade) in the least restrictive environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Arizona Special Education Teacher certification with Visually Impaired special area
- Master Degree in special Education (preferred)
- Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day as assigned
- Ability to assess needs develop and implement the IEP and evaluate outcomes in specialty
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct appropriate language and academic evaluations; develop implement and monitor appropriate Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Confer and consult with regular classroom teachers regarding student needs and progress.
- Maintain accurate records for documentation of student progress.
- Participate in the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) process.
- Plan conduct and/or participate in in-service professional development activities.
- Maintain on-going communication (verbal and written) with parents of special education students.
- Direct activities of instructional assistants and/or personal assistants if applicable.
- Provide input to performance evaluation for instructional and/or personal assistants to administrators.
- May be required to participate in students meetings which occur beyond the staffs work assignment schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
