Instructional Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Non-tenure track, Fall 2026

Chapman University seeks applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Chemistry (non-tenure track) in the SchmidCollege of Science and Technology starting August 2026.

The ACS accredited B.S. Chemistry program and the ASBMB accredited B.S. Instructional faculty play critical roles in the program for teaching pedagogy advising and addition instructional faculty have the opportunity for promotion to associate and full professor are senate-eligible and have full votes at both the program and college levels.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach four chemistry courses per semester within the Schmid College of Science and Technology including courses for chemistry majors and chemistry courses for other majors across the campus. This is a full-time non-tenure track position that requires work to be performed in the State of California and has in-person teaching responsibilities and required on-campus availability at Chapmans Orange campus.

Responsibilities include:

• Teach Organic Chemistry lecture and laboratory courses.
• Teach upper division coursework specifically Advanced Organic Chemistry (CHEM 432) Medicinal Chemistry (BCHM 350) or related courses. Current course descriptions are available athttps://
• Actively contribute to program activities and engage with the vibrant community of chemistry and biochemistry faculty and students.
• Actively contribute as an integral member of Schmid College of Science and Technology to the ongoing development implementation and assessment of our academic and degree programs.
• Perform service to the unit college university profession and/or wider community as expected of an instructional faculty member.

• A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field conferred by the start date.
• Evidence of effective teaching in higher education at the undergraduate level particularly in core chemistry courses such as organic chemistry and general chemistry.
• Experience with implementation of innovative teaching practices including using technology to enhance educational environments.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
