About the company

Remote World is partnering with a SaaS platform used by UK law firms for matter management and billing a UK-based employer to hire for this role. They manage sensitive legal and financial data for over 800 law firms which means database reliability performance and compliance are non-negotiable.

The role

Youll maintain optimise and scale the PostgreSQL databases that power the platforms core workflows. Working alongside the senior DBA and the platform team youll manage schema migrations tune slow queries monitor replication lag and maintain backup and recovery procedures.

What youll do

• Monitor database health replication and backup status daily
• Investigate and resolve slow queries using EXPLAIN ANALYSE
• Design and review schema migrations with the engineering team
• Maintain RDS Aurora instances and manage parameter group configurations
• Document database architecture and runbooks for the operations team

What youll need

• Shild PostgreSQL experience youve worked with it in a production context
• Comfortable with query optimisation and EXPLAIN plans
• Understanding of replication backups and point-in-time recovery
• Familiarity with AWS RDS or Aurora
• Good async written communication and thorough documentation habits

Nice to have

• Experience with database performance monitoring tools (pganalyze Datadog)
• Familiarity with compliance requirements for legal or financial data (SOC 2 GDPR)
