YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School is a tuition-free public charter high school with a singular focus on supporting youth aged 17-20 who have been pushed out of traditional schools. During our 1-year alternative program Youthbuild facilitates a warm loving culture that uses a variety of structures to build community such as a restorative-justice approach to discipline weekly community meetings and school-wide service projects. Students are empowered to attain their high school diploma and vocational certifications while receiving unconditional support by the staff around them. The Opportunity:
The YouthBuild Finance Specialist is a self-motivated organized multitasker with excellent customer service skills who thrives in a fast-paced dynamic atmosphere. They are responsible for accounts payable accounts receivable payroll supporting month-end close procedures as well as supporting financial reporting and operational procedures. This is an essential task that is central to the organizations daily weekly quarterly and annual fiscal activities as well as a key position that supports the Finance Team. The Finance Specialist plays an important position in our business and is responsible for much of the behind-the-scenes work required to keep Youthbuild structured and economically prudent.

- A bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 2-4 years related experience experience in a Not for Profit organization is preferred
- Experience using large scale automated financial systems preferred (i.e. Sage Intacct Certify AP etc.)
- Experience using payroll software (i.e. Paylocity)preferred
- Excellent ability to establish priorities coordinate work activities multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic work environment with accuracy and attention to detail
What Youll Do:
- Work closely with the Accounting Manager to perform close procedures monthly and annually including reconciliation of the balance sheet bank statements payroll allocations corporate credit cards gift cards and petty cash
- Process all accounts payable and accounts receivable activities in an accurate and timely manner
- Communicate with staff and vendors to solve invoice discrepancies and/or answer questions
- Enter and maintain invoices record journal entries and other financial activity into automated accounting systems (i.e. Sage Intacct Certify AP etc.)
- Reconcile semi-annual fixed asset physical inventory with the general ledger and make adjustments to fixed asset accounts as needed
- Process employee payroll and benefits in Paylocity in line with Organization Policies
- Ensure staff compliance with grant and organization policies; provide training as needed
- At least once a week make bank deposits
- Generate annual filings of 1099s and PA Unclaimed Property
- Provide support to the Finance Team for all grant accounting and serve as the backup to ensure that expenses are consistent with grant proposals and program budgets are accurately allocated to funding sources
- Assist with generating monthly quarterly and annual financial reports
- Maintain and update business office records and vendor files in accordance with the school retention guidelines
- Serve as designated contact person for day-to-day finance operations and maintain established Business Office hours which requires making certain that the Finance Office is open at 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. daily to assist staff
- Serve as backup for the Business Administrator
- Provide mentorship to a cohort of 45 students offering consistent academic and personal support to help them stay on track toward meeting graduation requirements
- Assists the Finance team members with other duties as needed

Salary Range:
New YouthBuild staff can expect a starting salary of between $46000 - $56000 based on years of experience education and certifications if applicable.
