Position Summary
The BP Line Operator is responsible for the safe efficient and compliant operation of the polypropylene carding production line. This role ensures continuous material flow monitors product quality through in-process testing and actively adjusts process parameters to maintain output within published quality specifications.
Operators are accountable for line performance product quality (including airflow weight and dimensional requirements) documentation accuracy completion of assigned preventive maintenance tasks and maintaining required training qualifications. This position plays a critical role in delivering high-quality filtration products that meet customer regulatory and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
Process Ownership & Line Operation
Operate the polypropylene carding line in accordance with standard work instructions Manufacturing Line Clearance (MLC) parameters and safety requirements.
Continuously feed polypropylene fiber into the process to maintain uninterrupted production flow.
Monitor line conditions and take proactive action to maintain process stability and product quality.
Make real-time adjustments to key operating parameters including temperature/heat settings fiber thickness and line speed.
Ensure finished material consistently meets published quality specifications for airflow basis weight and dimensional size.
Exercise authority to stop production if safety quality or equipment performance is at risk.
Quality Monitoring & Testing
Perform required in-process quality checks including airflow testing weight (basis weight) verification and product size/dimensional checks.
Interpret test results and adjust process parameters as needed to maintain compliance with specifications.
Accurately enter test data and production information into the QA database.
Verify accuracy of batch documentation labeling and production records.
Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Care
Complete assigned operator preventive maintenance (PM) tasks in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
Perform routine inspections and basic troubleshooting of equipment.
Document maintenance activities accurately.
Report equipment malfunctions or abnormal conditions promptly.
Support product changeovers and ensure equipment readiness for the next production run.
Training & Development
Monitor individual training requirements and maintain required certifications and qualifications for the role.
Complete all assigned training modules safety training and compliance training within established timelines.
Participate in cross-training and skills development to support operational flexibility.
Assist in training new operators as assigned.
Compliance & Documentation
Complete all production and quality documentation accurately and on time.
Maintain compliance with GMP safety environmental and company standards.
Follow standard work instructions and approved workflow processes.
Handle materials including hazardous waste when required in accordance with company policy and regulatory guidelines.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
Adhere to all plant and departmental safety policies.
Maintain a clean organized and audit-ready work area.
Identify and report safety hazards process risks or quality concerns.
Participate in Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives to enhance safety quality delivery and cost performance.
Basic Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED Required
Experience:
2 years of manufacturing experience required.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and adjust production equipment.
Ability to interpret airflow weight and dimensional quality data and make appropriate process adjustments.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and stand for extended periods.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Connecticut is $20.72$31.09.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company team and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
