About the Role...

Valois looking foraScientistItoplay a pivotal roleintheexperimentalvalidationof targetsforParkinsons diseaseand other neurodegenerative diseasesthat have beenidentifiedusingValoshuman-centricOpalcomputationalplatform. This role will alsosupport drug discovery program goalsincluding compound mechanism of action.

TheScientistI will have a passion for translatinghuman data insights into new therapies for complex neurodegenerative diseases. TheScientist Iwill work cross-functionally withsubject matter expertscomputational scientistsandengineers in a team-based environment to bring forward novel and creative solutions to target validation.

You willbring your experience in immune andinflammatorymechanismsand models to designandexecutetarget validationexperimentsusing human cell work you do willbuild confidence in the translationofcandidatedrugtargetsto diseases of interest.

As a hands-on experimentalist youwillexecute atthe bench with a high degree of reliability efficiency and accuracyand delivervalidationdata packages data interpretationsandpresentresultstoappropriatestakeholders.

WhatYoullDo

Your primary areas of responsibility will be:

• Generateexperimental plansand execute at the bench toenablevalidation of noveltherapeutictargets

• Develop andexecutehumanfunctionalcell-basedassays inimmuneand neuroinflammatorycell types to enablecharacterizationof novel drug targets

• Perform experimentsandgeneratedata inthelaboratorywith a high degree of reliability efficiency and accuracyto support target validation projects.

• Work in collaboration with other Valo scientists to progress target validation and drugdevelopmentaligned with company goals

• Generate data with high quality standards anddocumentwithinanelectronic labnotebook

What You Bring

• A PhD inBiological Sciencesorarelated fieldwith0-2yearsofexperience(orMS with4years of experienceor a BS with6 years of experience)

• Expertisein one or more of the followingareas:Immunology Autoimmune Disease NeuroimmunologyNeuroinflammation

• This position requiresexperienceinimmune and inflammatory mechanisms and models.

• Experienceinhumanin vitrosystems including direct cell culture with immune cell types ( blood-based cancer cell lines iPSCs derived immune cells) molecular biologyand genetic manipulation

• Experience in assay development with functional readouts (cytokine profilinginflammatory signalingflow cytometryphagocytosiscell death assay cellular function)

• Strongoral and writtencommunicationpresentationand interpersonal skills

• Track recordof impactful scientific contributions asdemonstratedby high impact publications
  
  
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

You May Also Bring

• Experience in humaninvitrosystems including cell culture and functional assays involvingneuroinflammatory cells and/or neurons

• Experienceworkinginin vivo/ex vivosystems

• Experience in discovery stage preclinical drug discovery programs and with target validation projects

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors including a candidates qualifications skills competencies and experience.
