The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) under the authority of the Emergency Management Act leads the coordination and co-operation of all organizations involved in emergencies and disasters. This includes emergency and disaster prevention preparedness response and recovery.

The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is accountable and responsible to the GoA to Albertans to their communities and to industry for the protection of people their property and the environment from the effects of emergency events. Alberta relies on a decentralized system for managing the various types of emergency events that occur every year. The AEMA accomplishes its objectives by leading the co-ordination collaboration and co-operation between all entities involved in prevention preparedness response and recovery activities within this diverse system.

The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior IT Business Analyst to lead a team of analysts and drive technology enabled improvements that support Albertas disaster recovery efforts. As part of the Recovery Branchs Business Operational Supports unit this role provides expert business analysis project leadership and IT solution oversight to ensure systems processes and standards effectively support the delivery of disaster financial assistance and broader recovery operations. This is a pivotal position for someone who excels at bridging business needs with technology solutions in a complex high impact environment.


Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of business analysts ensuring high quality analysis documentation and support.
Oversee Recovery Branch systems (databases SharePoint) and coordinate fixes updates and enhancements.
Translate business needs into clear requirements and guide the development of IT solutions that meet policy and user needs.
Lead IT and business process improvements including feasibility analysis business cases and solution design.
Serve as Product Owner for new and existing Recovery systems.
Manage complex multi stakeholder projects including planning risk management and progress oversight.
Coordinate change and transition activities including UAT system testing production transitions and user readiness.
Represent the Branch in committees working groups and cross government initiatives.
Support emergency operations as required including extended or irregular hours during major events.
