Position Summary:
The Communication Program at College of Western Idaho is looking for adjunct faculty members to teach Introduction to Communication (COMM 101) courses in a face-to-face hybrid or online environment. Successful candidates are required to use the Blackboard learning platform for grading posting office hours making announcements etc. The successful candidate may be asked to teach M-F during the day evening or Saturday at any of the College of Western Idahos campus locations. To reach a broad range of students the College of Western Idaho encourages instructors to explore alternative teaching styles and methods.
Essential Functions:
Teach contracted credit load of courses in accordance with the descriptions published in
the CWI catalog
Utilize outcomes assessment measures
Participates in instructional evaluation processes
Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviations promptly and accurately
communicated through the appropriate channels
Monitor and record student progress maintain accurate records and adhere to the College
of Western Idahos deadlines for such procedures
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic
cultural ethnic and disability backgrounds of community college students
Read understand agree and adhere to the Social and Behavioral Sciences Letter of
Teaching Appointment
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in Communication
Ability to enact a variety of teaching methodologies including lectures group activities
individual instruction distance learning and teaching with technology
Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development
Proficiency in the use of internet email word processing spreadsheet presentation
software and Blackboard applications
Successful experience teaching at a community college or with adult learners preferred
Experience using instructional technology preferred
Additional Instructions For Applicants:
Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring managers discretion. All candidates must reside within or be willing to relocate to a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
