Job Summary

Job Summary:

TheClassroom Teacheris responsible fordesigning a personalized program for each student that leads to increased student outcomes and a successful transition to a more typical classroom. TheClassroomteacher collaborates effectively with their teaching partner in the classroom to deliver instruction assess and track student progress and effectively communicate with parents.This position currently reports to theAssistant/HeadofSchool.

EssentialDuties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach a classroom of students with learning and attention challenges; create written weekly planner detailing instruction and class schedule.

  • Conduct comprehensive review of each students file and conversations with parents and specialistsin order todevelop a written personalized learning plan for each student.

  • Take time to reflect on instruction and share reflections withteachingpartner as appropriatein order tocontinually deliver effective instruction; note reflections instudentsfile as adjustments and interventions are implemented.

  • Formally and informally assess each child to fully understand the students strengths and challenges; keep written track of these instudentsfile.

  • Collaborate with colleagues throughout the school and CHCin order todeliver effective instruction and ensure students are reaching their learning goals.

  • Plan instruction to meet multiple modes of learning (instruction studentexpressionand student engagement) asevidencedin written weekly planner.

  • Recognize each students strengths andteach tothose strengths by creating a written strength-based profile for each student.

  • Closelymonitorsclassroombudget.

  • Fullyparticipatesin all school activities (includingparent edclasses).

  • AttendSand Hill School and CHCidentifiedspecial eventsand activities.

  • Participate in Parent Visits as assigned.

  • Willinglyparticipateinreview/reflection/evaluation process.

  • Develop collegiality within and across disciplines at CHC to build rapport and.professional collaboration with the larger CHC staff.

  • Develop collegial relationships with outside professionals to promote cross referrals.

  • Maintain commitment to child safety mandated reporting duty and professional boundaries.

  • Perform other related duties asand assigned.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Has2-4years of classroom teaching experience.

  • Masters degree in relevant field preferred.

  • Either has a special education teaching certification/credential OR is currently working toward earning certification/credential (preferred).

  • Has experience with neurodiverse students with learning differences ranging from 5-14 years of age.

  • Worked in a Special Education setting (preferred).

  • Technological skills (Google classroom Google Suite).

  • Know their studentswell and adaptinstructionto meet individual student needs.

  • Are responsible forensuringthat all students in the class meet or exceed expected growth.

  • Act professionallyin all situations.

  • Work with their colleaguesto develop instruction andmonitorstudent progress.

  • Communicate effectively with parentsregardingstudent needs and student growth.

  • Communicatefrequentlywith parentsin which both parents and teachers learn from each other in the best interest of the student.

  • Effectively team and collaboratewith all professionalsin order tomaximize student progress.

  • Regularly and effectively communicate and plan with colleagues.

  • Genuinely enjoy being with their studentsandmakethe classroom a joyful place.

  • Recognize their students strengthsand contributions to the classroom community.

  • Areexperts in working with students who struggle with learning and attention challengesand know the best intervention to use given the situation.

  • Manage the classroom wellare explicit with student expectations and boundaries and know when and how to intervene to ensure positive results and model exemplary classroom management skills.

  • Areskilled in delivering instruction that is developmentallyappropriate as well as direct & explicit multisensory appropriately paced as well as structured & systematic.

  • Set individual student goals and regularly monitor and track student learningto ensure students are progressing in meeting goals.

  • Willing and eager to use technologyto support learninginstructionand productivity.

  • Seek out opportunities togrow professionally.

Physicaland Special JobRequirements:

  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time for instruction and supervision.

  • Flexibility will beinworkschedule.
