Churchill Special School are seeking a Family Liaison Officer who is tenacious and shows attention to detail to support the school in ensuring pupils and families recognise the importance of 100% attendance as a key factor in securing academic success. As a Family Liaison Officer you will provide strategic supportive intervention with pupils and families who have emerging attendance issues. You will also establish and foster positive relationships with children and their families and provide on-going support.
You will:
- work with the senior staff on analysing attendance and punctuality trends
- liaise with the Senior Leadership Team and Family Liaison Officer exploring factors which may be impacting on a pupils attendance
- meet with pupils and parents to establish the reasons for non-attendance or poor punctuality and agree a plan to tackle the issues
- establish rapport and build respectful honest challenging and supportive relationships with pupils and their families
- act as a point of contact in school for families in need of support
- strive to improve the lives of all vulnerable families
- provide advice and guidance to parents and carers and signpost families to sources of advice and guidance within the local community
- carry out home visits where required.
