Job Summary

The State of Montana has a decentralized human resources (HR) system. Each agency is responsible for its own recruitment and selection. Division Overview:

The mission of the Montana Department of Justice Law Enforcement Academy is to provide statutorily required basic training programs and ongoing educational opportunities across all public safety disciplines. Academy staff are ultimately responsible for serving law enforcement agencies and the communities they represent by providing a positive atmosphere where relevant and realistic training for new and veteran public safety professionals can occur.

Job Overview:

The Training Support Specialist provides essential support for the Montana Law Enforcement Academys training programs both online and in-person. This position is responsible for monitoring online learning activities assisting students and instructors with training questions maintaining training materials and supporting classroom and scenario operations. The role also assists the Training Officer Supervisor with special projects and completes additional tasks as assigned.

Duties may include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate online learning by monitoring student progress and activity.
  • Respond to student questions related to online learning platforms modules and requirements.
  • Update and maintain online learning modules to ensure accuracy and usability.
  • Set up multiple classrooms for instructor and student use ensuring rooms are properly equipped and organized.
  • Assist with room checks to maintain classroom readiness and standards.
  • Assist withtraining scenarios setting up scenario environments and supporting instructors during active scenario-based training.
  • Upload and maintain training-related information within the Academys internal systems ensuring data accuracy completeness and compliance with established procedures.
  • Support the Training Officer Supervisor with specialprojects research data organization and other assigned tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall training operations.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and processes.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms and basic troubleshooting.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to set up physical classroom spaces including basic equipment handling.
