Job Summary
POSITION: SPANISH TEACHER
REPORTS TO: MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Teachers must have a strong understanding of child development enjoy young adolescents and display a passion for their subject. The ideal candidate will have experience creating and implementing a K-8 Spanish curriculum that includes project-based learning units and hands-on curricula for students. Candidates should enjoy collaborating with colleagues and engaging in the entire school experience. The candidate must be capable of and willing to teach a range of students.
Additionally many teachers serve as advisors to a small group of middle school students and may be involved with extracurricular or interdisciplinary programs.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Design and deliver inquiry-driven curriculum in subject area/s
- Collaborate with colleagues to design integrated curriculum projects and service-learning opportunities
- Create a classroom space that is differentiated engaging and responsive
- Integrate student and teacher use of technology into curriculum and instruction to enhance student learning
- Plan design and implement authentic assessment of student progress
- Integrate student and teacher use of technology meaningfully into instruction and effectively utilize technology for planning and administrative functions
- Communicate student progress to students and families through assessments the Schoology portal progress reports report cards and conferences
- Serve as a middle school advisor which includes teaching SEL curriculum providing academic coaching as well as planning and supporting community events and retreats
- Identify and respond to individual students academic social and emotional needs including learning differences in collaboration with the Student Success Team
- Carry out other responsibilities and duties such as clubs and recess-lunch supervision
- Participate in the School community including faculty and committee work and other school-related activities
- Participate in open houses and retreats as needed and perform supervision duties as assigned
- Attend day and overnight field trips as needed

COMPENSATION
$71000 to $115000 - Commensurate with experience
EXPECTED HOURS
7:50 am - 3:30 pm Monday through Friday
Faculty Meetings are on Mondays from 3:30 to 5:00 pm (Occasional evening events)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is an exempt position. Competitive compensation commensurate with experience. SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION
- B.A. or B.S. in education or a related field
- Teaching Credential and/or Masters in education preferred
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience
- Excellent classroom management skills necessary to ensure a safe productive and positive environment
- Excellent interpersonal organizational and time management skills
- Strong desire to be part of a collaborative team
- Excellent communication interpersonal and presentation skills
- Experience developing writing and delivering curriculum
- Ability to work effectively communicate and collaborate in a team situation
- Proficient in technology and adept at learning new skills
- Must LOVE students and their unique needs as learners
