Job Summary
Position Summary
The Associate will be a member of Focuss business development team for M&A transactions. The Associate will join a high-functioning nimble team and will focus on sourcing and building relationships with independent wealth management firms across the country relying on strong communication and analytical skills to vet transaction partners for Focus. The Associate will also support the teams M&A strategy through a wide range of business development projects. The ideal candidate is a team player self-starter and intellectually curious. Associates will be trained in a fast-paced environment and given immediate responsibilities with significant daily autonomy. Successful Associates will have the opportunity for advancement over time.
This role is based in New York NY or Austin TX. 3 days/week onsite is required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute Focus M&A strategy by sourcing and advancing relationships with principals of wealth and business management firms
- Lead quality conversations that demonstrate Focus value proposition to advisors and clients with prospective acquisition partners
- Identify data-informed investment theses for wealth management transaction opportunities that advance Focus companywide goals
- Support Focus knowledge of the industrys competitive landscape through continuous evaluation of 3rd party research and industry publications
- Collaborate with team members to review and analyze financial data received from prospects to assess strategic fit and financial viability
- Prepare and present term sheets alongside other team members
- Organize and plan trips for senior team members to meet potential partners
- Manage CRM and pipeline activities
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from a top university or college
- 2 year(s) full-time work experience in business development wealth management or an adjacent industry
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Proficient in Microsoft products
- Intellectual curiosity and confidence to take initiative
- Competency in financial statement analysis M&A and strong analytical skills is a plus

This position is anexempt position. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $90000$110000base salary compensation range. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience subject matter expertise geographic location where work will be performed and the applicants skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package including but not limited to medical dental vision life insurance and 401(k). Please note that the job title is subject to change based on the selected candidates experience and education.
