The GEAR UP Grant Coordinator & Secondary Instructional Coach supports the successful implementation of the GEAR UP grant while strengthening instructional practices across grades 712. This role works with campus and district leadership to ensure all grant initiatives are aligned with district curriculum goals instructional priorities and executive leadership direction. The position blends grant coordination with instructional coaching to improve teacher effectiveness student outcomes and college and career readiness.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Bachelors degree required
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Experience:
Minimum of 5-8 years of successful teaching experience preferably at the secondary level
Experience in instructional coaching curriculum development or campus/district leadership preferred
Experience with grant-funded programs preferred
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong knowledge of secondary curriculum instruction and assessment
Ability to analyze and use data to drive instructional decisions
Skill in coaching adult learners and facilitating professional development
Strong organizational communication and collaboration skills
Knowledge of college and career readiness practices
Major Responsibilities
GEAR UP Grant Coordinator
Coordinate and implement all components of the GEAR UP grant in alignment with district curriculum goals strategic priorities and federal guidelines while working with campus and district leadership to ensure coherence across initiatives
Monitor program implementation timelines budgets and required documentation to maintain fidelity and compliance
Collect analyze and report student data and program outcomes to support continuous improvement and informed decision-making
Work with campus and district leadership to ensure all grant activities align with performance measures and current instructional expectations
Coordinate and facilitate student support initiatives including college readiness academic support and family engagement that directly reinforce district instructional goals
Serve as a liaison between the district campuses and external partners to ensure all efforts are cohesive aligned to curriculum and integrated with the work of campus and district leadership
Instructional Coaching (Grades 712)
Provide job-embedded coaching to teachers through observation modeling and feedback
Support teachers in lesson internalization and implementation aligned to district curriculum and expectations
Facilitate PLC conversations focused on student outcomes and instructional alignment
Assist teachers in using student data to inform instruction and targeted support
Design and deliver professional development aligned to district priorities curriculum and grant goals
Work with campus and district leadership to build teacher and leader capacity in instructional best practices and data-driven decision-making
Support campus leadership in strengthening instructional systems and structures
Contribute to the alignment of curriculum instruction and assessment across secondary campuses
Work with campus and district leadership to support campus improvement efforts and instructional priorities
Participate in instructional walks data meetings and collaborative sessions aligned to district priorities
Support the implementation and monitoring of district initiatives including intervention systems and college readiness efforts
Maintain strong communication with all stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity of expectations
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
