Job Summary

Your role at St John of God Warrnambool Hospital

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Associate Nurse Unit Manager to join our Clinical Services Ward delivering a diverse mix of medical and surgical care including oncology haematology palliative care and specialties such as urology plastics and orthopaedics. This role is available parttime (minimum 0.5 FTE) or fulltime with flexibility and genuine opportunities for career progression.

Working in partnership with the Nurse Manager the successful applicant will lead patientcentred evidencebased care aligned with best practice and legislative standards. Shifts range between 7.5 and 9 hours with regular responsibility for shift leadership.

The Position

  • Supervises nursing practice of all nursing caregivers taking responsibility for standard of nursing care delivered.

  • Initiates reviews and coordinates care of patients with complex health problems.

  • Serves as a patient advocate protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times.

  • Actively contributes to the development of clinical policies and procedures in area of specialty.

  • Responsible and accountable for nominated portfolios as designated by Nurse Manager and actively communicate with Nurse Manager updates.

  • Participates in and takes responsibility for the education of other caregivers by conducting formal and informal teaching sessions.

  • Routinely monitors the results of diagnostic procedures and investigations and report abnormalities as required to the required caregiver.

  • Systematically evaluates and documents the outcomes of nursing/medical interventions and report significant anomalies promptly.

  • Ensures documentation of planned nursing care and holistic care plan remains current and regularly evaluate documentation of the multidisciplinary team to determine their compliance to hospital policy.

You will have a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and clinical experience with minimum of five (5) years post graduate experience within an acute care setting.

To succeed you will have to demonstrate practical experience and knowledge of research methodology and evidence-based nursing practice and demonstrate ability to organise and motivate staff.

The Benefits:

  • Salary: $115908 to $119811 per annum (pro rata basis for part-time) plus 12% superannuation
