To determine final salary Babcock considers a variety of factors including the successful Candidates skills and experience and internal equity. The final base salary offer is at the Companys sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
Your Role
Description
In this role you will:
Report directly to the Waterfront Engineering Marine Systems Electrical Team Lead and contribute to the successful delivery of technical deliverables
Draft and review deviations waivers and repair specifications for submarine electrical equipment and maintenance activities under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
Assess document and communicate risks associated with submarine engineering systems to both internal and external stakeholders
Be responsive to Project Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard waterfront environment
Gain knowledge of Defence Standards Military Specifications and other relevant guiding principles in the design and maintenance of submarine specific systems
Identify risks impacts mitigations and opportunities
Conduct other duties as necessary or as reasonably assigned from time to time
The ideal candidate brings:
Graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution with a degree in Electrical Engineering
Registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in British Columbia
Minimum 2 years previous relevant engineering or technologist experience an asset
Marine offshore oil and gas drilling or naval vessel experience an asset
Experience with tasks requiring attention to detail and demonstrated pragmatic problem-solving skills
Strong computer skills; including MS Office suite
Strong verbal and written communication skills including writing formal reports and making presentations
Experience working in a shipyard and knowledge of shipyard safe work practices is an asset
You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
Have the physical ability to climb and descend ladders and stairs to access work areas.
Have the physical ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods.
Have the physical dexterity to allow for working in confined spaces and areas with limited room for movement.
Is comfortable working on scaffolding at heights and around water.
Is comfortable working in an industrial environment and around moving equipment (forklifts cranes etc.).
