QUALIFICATIONS: N.C. School Media Coordinator Certification
SUPERVISES:May coordinate and direct activities of paraprofessionals and
clerical assistants
REPORTS TO:The school principal or his/her designee
JOB GOAL: To provide the leadership and resources for the implementation of a
school library/media program that serves as an integral part of the instructional process.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct students and faculty in using and/or producing media to integrate into the curriculum and facilitate the teaching/learning process.
- Initiates interaction with students staff administration and the general public for purposes of integrating promoting and expanding the media program.
- Designs and implements short- and long-range plans which allow a balance among integrated skills instruction literature appreciation planning with teachers and collection management and development.
- Establishes and carries out procedures for effective and efficient selection acquisition cataloging processing accessing and maintaining materials and equipment.
- Select materials for addition to the collection which support the educational program of the school.
- Administers the media center budget.
- Organizes the facility and resources in such a way that they reflect the philosophy and goals of the school and its media program.
- Provides opportunities for personal and professional growth for him/herself as well as for the schools staff and students.
- Performs assigned non-instructional duties.
- Adheres to established laws policies rules and regulations.
- Prepares and submits accurate reports promptly.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month year with full benefits. Salary in accordance with certification and placement on the adopted schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance
with the Board of Education policy on the evaluation of teachers.
