Position: Divisional Financial Accountant (Fixed-Term Contract)
Industry: Freight Logistics & Port Operations
Location: Head Office South Africa
Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract
Contract Duration: 9 Months (with an option to extend for an additional 3 months)
Purpose of the Role
A leading organisation within the freight and port operations sector is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced Divisional Financial Accountant to support Financial Reporting at Head Office level. The successful candidate will ensure compliance accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting while maintaining a robust financial control environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee month-end quarterly interim and year-end financial reporting
- Ensure financial statements are accurate and compliant with IFRS and internal policies
- Review consolidated trial balances and financial reports
- Coordinate internal and external audits
Financial Accounting & Controls
- Review general ledger reconciliations journals and intercompany transactions
- Ensure adherence to financial controls and PFMA requirements
- Maintain and enhance financial control frameworks
Cash & Working Capital Management
- Review and authorize cash forecasts
- Support working capital optimisation initiatives
- Oversee cash management processes
Operational Oversight
- Act as Business Process Owner for financial accounting processes
- Oversee SAP FI module enhancements and authorisations
- Support revenue management and financial close processes
Team Leadership
- Manage and guide finance staff
- Ensure efficient functioning of the Financial Reporting Office
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant CA(SA) (Non-negotiable)
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
- Postgraduate qualification in Accounting/Finance (advantageous)
Experience
- 68 years relevant experience in financial accounting/reporting
Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of IFRS PFMA and corporate governance
- Experience with SAP (FI & CO modules)
- Understanding of financial risks and controls
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Leadership and people management ability
- Strong project and process management skills
