Position: Divisional Financial Accountant (Fixed-Term Contract)

Purpose of the Role

A leading organisation within the freight and port operations sector is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced Divisional Financial Accountant to support Financial Reporting at Head Office level. The successful candidate will ensure compliance accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting while maintaining a robust financial control environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Oversee month-end quarterly interim and year-end financial reporting
  
• Ensure financial statements are accurate and compliant with IFRS and internal policies
  
• Review consolidated trial balances and financial reports
  
• Coordinate internal and external audits
  

Financial Accounting & Controls

• Review general ledger reconciliations journals and intercompany transactions
  
• Ensure adherence to financial controls and PFMA requirements
  
• Maintain and enhance financial control frameworks
  

Cash & Working Capital Management

• Review and authorize cash forecasts
  
• Support working capital optimisation initiatives
  
• Oversee cash management processes
  

Operational Oversight

• Act as Business Process Owner for financial accounting processes
  
• Oversee SAP FI module enhancements and authorisations
  
• Support revenue management and financial close processes
  

Team Leadership

• Manage and guide finance staff
  
• Ensure efficient functioning of the Financial Reporting Office
  

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Chartered Accountant CA(SA) (Non-negotiable)
  
• Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
  
• Postgraduate qualification in Accounting/Finance (advantageous)
  

Experience

• 68 years relevant experience in financial accounting/reporting
  

Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of IFRS PFMA and corporate governance
  
• Experience with SAP (FI & CO modules)
  
• Understanding of financial risks and controls
