Purpose of the Role
A leading organisation within the freight and port operations sector is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced Divisional Financial Accountant to support Financial Reporting at Head Office level. The successful candidate will ensure compliance accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting while maintaining a robust financial control environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Oversee month-end quarterly interim and year-end financial reporting
Ensure financial statements are accurate and compliant with IFRS and internal policies
Review consolidated trial balances and financial reports
Coordinate internal and external audits
Financial Accounting & Controls
Review general ledger reconciliations journals and intercompany transactions
Ensure adherence to financial controls and PFMA requirements
Maintain and enhance financial control frameworks
Cash & Working Capital Management
Review and authorize cash forecasts
Support working capital optimisation initiatives
Oversee cash management processes
Operational Oversight
Act as Business Process Owner for financial accounting processes
Oversee SAP FI module enhancements and authorisations
Support revenue management and financial close processes
Team Leadership
Manage and guide finance staff
Ensure efficient functioning of the Financial Reporting Office
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Chartered Accountant CA(SA) (Non-negotiable)
Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
Postgraduate qualification in Accounting/Finance (advantageous)
Experience
68 years relevant experience in financial accounting/reporting
Knowledge
Strong knowledge of IFRSPFMA and corporate governance
Experience with SAP (FI & CO modules)
Understanding of financial risks and controls
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Leadership and people management ability
Strong project and process management skills
