POSITION DESCRIPTION
OneAmerica is seeking an outgoing and driven individual to join our team as a Volunteer and Field Coordinator. This person will be responsible for training and launching allies and community members into the field to participate in our deep listening canvass and phone bank 2025 OneAmerica launched the program across King Yakima and Clark Counties. With this launch we found that immigrants and the broader multiracial working class are hungry to build power within their own communities. The person in this role will have the opportunity to build on and scale the work as we continue to grow our program in 2026.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer Cultivation and Coordination (50%)
Build a base of active volunteers who are consistently attending phone banks and canvasses through regular outreach to our lists via phone calls texts and meetings
Cultivate a set of super volunteers who are moving on a ladder of engagement to run canvasses volunteer orientations and phone banks on their own through training and mentorship
Attend community events to build relationships and bring new people into OA
Manage clear direct and regular communication to active and prospective volunteers
Canvass 1x per week with King County Organizers and their base of members
Event Planning and Execution (35%)
Plan and execute weekly volunteer phone banks
Design and carry out one volunteer canvass per month
Create bi-weekly volunteer orientations that train volunteers in our method of deep listening and drive new volunteers into our field events
Drive turnout from the volunteer base and overall organization to weekly phone banks monthly canvases and bi-weekly volunteer orientations
Administrative (15%)
Develop and manage a volunteer management system within OAs CRM
Update the volunteer orientation materials consistently
Regularly update phone bank and canvass scripts
Schedule create and manage meetings for orientations and phone banks
Drive communication pre-and post-events to attendees
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
OneAmerica is seeking candidates who are passionate about our mission and are highly proactive. While no one candidate will embody all the qualifications below our ideal candidate would bring:
REQUIRED
1-2 years of experience in volunteer coordination or grassroots organizing in nonprofits or other people-centered work
Strong experience in event planning and execution with a proven track record of leading and accomplishing events successfully
Ability to drive within the state of Washington to meet with volunteers and launch canvasses
Familiarity with CRMs like NationBuilder The Voter Action Network (NPG VAN) or Salesforce
PREFERRED
1-2 years of experience working in political or issue campaigns
Ability to speak one or more languages outside of English
Self-starter approach to take direction and eager to build powerful connections with working-class people of color
Direct experience speaking to community members and voters on the phone and at doors about issue campaigns electoral campaigns or ballot initiatives
Experience writing intriguing exciting and relatable scripts to help build relationships across diverse communities
Strong dedication and ability to lead and facilitate trainings for volunteers
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Willingness to accommodate community-based scheduling needs such as evening and weekend meetings
Access to reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout Washington State and nationally on occasion
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to be on a computer and phone for majority of the day on some days
Travel within the state (roughly 3-5 times a year if Seattle based. If located in other parts of Washington roughly once a month)
Ability to have multiple phone calls a day
Ability to walk for up to 3 hours at a time during a canvassing event
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a hybrid position within the state of Washington and can be based out of our Seattle Vancouver or Yakima -office twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
