Job Summary

PathPoint a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities or disadvantages to reach their fullest potential is seeking an Employment Specialist II for our Employment Services programs to support the areas of Northridge SCV and West L.A. The ideal candidate must be based out of San Fernando Valley area due to frequent travel needs to LA basin and Santa Clarita as needed. This is a unique and rewarding outside sales position that helps people with disabilities or disadvantages secure meaningful employment.

As an Employment Specialist you will suppors individuals with disabilities in exploring career paths developing skills earning credentials and securing competitive integrated employment. Provides personcentered strengthsbased coaching through career planning workbased learning job development and the transition to employment. Collaborates with individuals families employers educators and funders to coordinate services leverage available resources and promote meaningful sustainable employment outcomes.

The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with occasional evening and weekend events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead personcentered career exploration assessments and individualized career planning.
  • Develop customized and traditional job opportunities through employer outreach job matching and negotiation.
  • Coordinate training credential attainment and workbased learning experiences with schools and workforce partners.
  • Support individuals in accessing assistive technology workplace accommodations and successful onboarding.
  • Maintain strong employer/community partnerships and ensure accurate documentation compliance and advocacy.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree with 3 years experience in the field of developmental disabilities service systems:
  • OR an Associates-level degree with 5 years experience.
  • Must have completed a course or training in person-centered thinking/planning and hold either an ACRE certificate with an emphasis on CE or Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE) Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credentialed.
  • An ability to obtain this certification within the first 90 days of employment can be considered.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to gain commitment trust and cooperation
  • Highly organized and results-driven with ways to create avenues of opportunities that didnt previously exist
  • Able to answer unasked questions guide conversation and overcome objections/concerns in order to put to rest an employers fears
  • Must pass Livescan DOJ fingerprint background check health screen and TB (tuberculosis) test
  • Must possess a valid drivers license with at least 5 years driving history satisfactory DMV driving record and regular use of vehicle with current registration and insurance
  • Able to endure physical activities such as walking standing sitting stooping and be capable of lifting 30-40 pounds

Compensation and Benefits

Pay range for this position is $28:00 to $30.00 per hour and mileage reimbursement. Benefits for employees working 30 hours per week or more include medical dental vision and life/AD&D insurance; paid vacation holidays and sick time and a wellness program; Section 125 FSA (Flexible Spending Account); 403(b) tax-sheltered savings plan with employer match; and a free Employee Assistance Program.
