Were seeking a hands-ondetail-driven Steam Specialist to support steam-related inventorycontrol and supply management at key customer sites in the Indianapolis INarea. This role is essential to maintaining efficient steam system operationsensuring critical component availability and strengthening long-termpartnerships through reliable high-quality service. It also provides a strongfoundation for individuals interested in transitioning into a technical outsidesales role focused on steam and thermal system solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management: Oversee andmaintain inventory of steam system components including steam traps controlvalves pressure regulators condensate return equipment and related parts atcustomer storerooms.
Customer Relationship Management:Serve as the primary point of contact for customers supporting steam systemmaintenance needs and ensuring consistent communication and service excellence.
Business Development: Monitorcustomer steam system maintenance schedules and identify opportunities forsystem optimization upgrades and expanded onsite inventory solutions.
Sales Collaboration: Partner withoutside sales and technical support teams to identify steam-relatedopportunities coordinate quotations and follow up on projects involving steamefficiency and reliability.
Reporting: Utilize companyplatforms (e.g. Salesforce) to track steam system-related activitiesinventory usage and sales performance.
Safety: Follow all site-specificsafety protocols particularly those related to high-pressure steam systems andthermal equipment.
Prospecting: Identify additionalopportunities within existing customer facilities for steam system improvementsand assist with introductory sales efforts for new accounts.
Administrative Duties: Meetdeadlines manage documentation and complete administrative responsibilitiestied to customer and steam system support activities.
Required Skills &Qualifications
Customer-focused with strongbusiness acumen in industrial or steam system environments
Excellent communication andnegotiation skills
Strong attention to detail andorganizational skills
Technical aptitude with theability to understand piping diagrams steam system layouts and basicinstrumentation
Ability to work independently andmanage time effectively
Strong problem-solving andanalytical abilities particularly related to steam system performance
Team-oriented with projectcoordination experience
Valid Drivers License required
Education & Experience
Required:
High school diploma or GED
12 years of related experience inindustrial mechanical or steam-related environments
Preferred:
Bachelors degree in Engineeringor a technical field
3 years of experience with steamsystems thermal equipment or process control products
Familiarity with CMMS or ERPsystems
Work Environment & PhysicalDemands
Exposure to steam systemsmechanical equipment condensate systems elevated temperatures fumes andvarying noise levels
Active role requiring standingwalking bending kneeling and occasional sitting
Visual acuity including closedistance color and depth perception
Additional Information
Occasional overnight travel may berequired
Limited supervisoryresponsibilities related to projects and customer coordination
