As an Affordable Housing Credit Officer in the Community Development Real Estate team you will lead the full credit lifecycle for construction and permanent loans supporting affordable multifamily developments. You will structure and present transactions; drive closings; and manage a portfolio through construction leaseup stabilization and repayment. This role provides the opportunity to influence best practices mentor peers and shape credit decisions that align with risk appetite and community impact objectives. Youll partner closely with developers syndicators public agencies and crossfunctional internal teams to deliver timely highquality outcomes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead endtoend risk analysis of affordable housing transactions including development budgets sources and uses and project economics.
  • Prepare present and defend comprehensive credit packages to senior management and credit committees clearly articulating key risks and mitigants.
  • Evaluate and synthesize thirdparty due diligence (appraisals environmental construction market studies) and incorporate findings into credit decisions.
  • Coordinate and manage transaction closings driving timelines documentation and stakeholder alignment to ontime funding.
  • Identify assess and monitor credit risk throughout construction and leaseup; implement proactive action plans where warranted.
  • Manage an active loan portfolio including construction draws covenant tracking annual reviews and modifications.
  • Establish risk analysis standards and best practices; champion accountability and continuous improvement across the team.
  • Collaborate with internal partners (Legal Portfolio Management Risk Operations Tax Credit teams) and external parties (developers syndicators agencies).
  • Conduct site visits and participate in industry events to maintain market knowledge and strengthen relationships.
  • Present clear analyses recommendations and status updates to leadership; escalate issues with timely datadriven guidance.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation and data integrity across systems to support controls audits and reporting.

Required Qualifications Capabilities and Skills:

  • 6 years of experience in community development real estate lending or investing with a focus on affordable housing.
  • Demonstrated underwriting expertise in LowIncome Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) subordinate/public subsidy layers and construction/permanent financing structures.
  • Proven leadership with the ability to set direction drive accountability and influence outcomes across crossfunctional teams.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; capacity to synthesize complex information and make sound credit recommendations.
  • Track record of managing multiple transactions and deadlines with disciplined project management and followthrough.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and customer service; trusted partner to clients and internal colleagues.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including preparation and delivery of executivelevel presentations.
  • Acute attention to detail with strong documentation and control discipline.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel PowerPoint Word) for modeling presentation and documentation.
  • Bachelors degree in finance real estate economics or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Commitment to the CRA mission and familiarity with how lending activities support community impact goals.

Preferred Qualifications Capabilities and Skills:

  • Advanced degree (Masters) in real estate finance public policy or related discipline.
  • Experience closing complex multilayered capital stacks with tax credits bonds and multiple subsidy sources.
  • Familiarity with construction risk management draw processes and budget monitoring best practices.
  • Knowledge of local and state housing agency programs HUD and municipal financing tools.
  • Experience with portfolio management systems and workflow tools; comfort with datadriven reporting.
  • Prior responsibility presenting to credit committees and senior risk leadership.
  • Active industry engagement through conferences associations or thought leadership.
