How Youll Make an Impact
As a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway you will join a dedicated team of carers who provide person-centred support to people with disabilities in their own homes.
A day in the life as a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway may include:
- Delivering person-centred care and support based on individual needs and support plans.
- Supporting participants to meet their goals particularly in alignment with their NDIS plan with a focus on safety dignity and client goals.
- Responding to crises including de-escalating behaviours of concern as listed in the Behaviour Support Plan
- Assisting with the delivery of activities that build capacity and develop skills across physical social emotional and intellectual domains
Foster a safe and supportive environment that promotes independence and autonomy.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients families and other stakeholders.
As a Support Worker you will have experience within the disability sector and as our participant has specific needs you will also demonstrate the following:
- Experience supporting participants with high and complex needs including complex behaviours along with strong communication skills
- Previous experience in a similar role particularly working with individuals who require Behavioural and Mental Health Support
- Experience with de-escalating heightened behaviours
- A compassionate and empathetic approach with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in peoples lives
- A patient flexible understanding and supportive nature with excellent listening skills and strong attention to detail
- The ability to take responsibility use initiative and work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
Experience supporting community access for participants with BOC
Desirable however not essential:
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent.
- Valid drivers licence with access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.
