    Retirement Contribution:Corvallis School District participates in the Oregon PublicEmployee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. Upon eligibility the district contributes 6% of an employees salary to their Individual Account Program (IAP). Eligibility is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Exercises independent judgment to manage library/media or textbook resource centers daily operations technical services collection development budget and programs in a manner consistent with administrative direction district policies and procedures and goals of the instructional program.
    • Assist all students and staff in the library and use of library materials and technology.
    • Independently manages students in small groups or entire classes.
    • Coordinates and trains community volunteers and student assistants in library tasks.
    • Trains and assists staff and students in literature information literacy resources and technology applications in a manner that encourages independent learning and personal growth.
    • Within a specialized area of assignment exercises independent judgment to resolve issues and respond to requests for assistance and materials.
    • Provides an organized library media center by processing circulating inventorying maintaining and shelving materials and resources.
    • Assures an orderly and organized flow of materials by utilizing the computerized library circulation system to manage patron accounts and overdue and lost items.
    • Repairs library/media books textbooks and other materials.
    • Provides standard first aid in a competent and compassionate manner.
    • Provides other related services as assigned.

    • Perform duties in a courteous and efficient manner that builds the confidence of staff students and the public in the Corvallis School District and enhances learning.
    • Observe laws district policies and procedures and professional standards for the position.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school personnel parents students and the public; work collaboratively as a team member.
    • Maintain regular attendance at work and work activities and is punctual in meeting deadlines attending meetings and following schedule.
    • Carry out work responsibilities with strong organizational skills effectively under pressure of deadlines difficult situations interruptions and new or emergency conditions.
    • Respect confidential information and the privacy of students staff and parents.
    • Support students and staff in the districts career-related learning standards to encourage the development of independent work skills through career exploration and community involvement.
    • Develop job skills necessary to meet changes in the position.
    • Maintain personal appearance and hygiene appropriate to the position as defined by the district.
    • Meet applicable district physical ability/health and safety guidelines for the position.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • An associates (or higher) degree two years post secondary study (72 quarter or 48 semester credits) or a passing score on a district-approved assessment.
    • Knowledge and experience in library/media programs and functions.
    • Ability to understand the building/programs instructional goals and carry out work assignments in a manner that supports those goals.
    • Mastery of library and office systems equipment multimedia and technology.
    • Ability to diagnose and problem-solve software and equipment difficulties.
    • Ability to formulate ideas for program improvement.
    • Ability to understand and implement the school/programs student discipline policy.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to independently plan organize and carry out work assignments and to plan and direct the work of volunteers and student assistants.
    • Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with individuals and groups of all ages and to manage student behavior.
    • Ability to travel among district facilities as needed; if driving the ability to meet district driving standards.
    • Standard First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification within two months of hire may be required.
