Job Summary

JOB TITLE: Data Management Specialist (East Los Angeles)

Bienestar Human Services is a unique non-profit social service organization that successfully improves the health and well-being of the Latino and other underserved communities in Southern California. BIENESTAR uses a uniquely relevant peer-based approach combined with 100% cultural competence and community outreach to improve the outcome of public health. BIENESTAR networks with other social service organizations to provide a complete package of support to its clients.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Evaluations Manager the Data Management Specialist will assist with carrying out program data management activities and administrative activities. The Data Management Specialist will also be responsible for data entry and management including archiving of data from HIV prevention programs in appropriate formats tracking program requirements and verifying data quality from all sources.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greet and welcome patients clients and visitors in a professional welcoming and courteous manner making them feel welcome when entering any BIENESTAR facility.
Responsible for data management including data collection and proper documentation and filing.
Responsible for overall daily coordination of data collection and data entry for HIV testing program.
Work on Los Angeles County Division of HIV and STI Program compliance requirements.
Compiles sorts and verifies accuracy of data to be entered (program and accounting).
Ensures adherence to data management protocols.
Assists with the review entry and audit of agency program data.
Prepares weekly/monthly/quarterly program reports and keeps accurate up-to-date records and documentation to meet contractual obligations.
Assists with the development of promotional and educational campaigns utilizing agency data.
Assists with the development and implementation of community needs assessments quality assurance and program evaluations.
Participates in agency special events and programs (i.e. parades workshops festivals health fairs World AIDS Day etc.)
Attends educational workshops and conferences to obtain new information.
Attend and successfully complete all required training agency programs meetings and other professional development opportunities.
Adhere compliance to all federal state local community partners outside providers organization and patient confidentiality privacy regulations (including but not limited to: HIPAA 42 CFR Part 2 and all other policies and agreements regarding confidentiality privacy safety and security).
Provide training to new or other staff members required.
Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner including written communications with external agencies with approved consent for shared data.
Perform all other program and organization duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Bachelor degree in the field of Accounting or related disciplines from a university accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) or equivalent accrediting institution.
Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other computer applications.
Experience in the field of Social Science Public Health Social Work or related disciplines or practical experience conducting programs for targeted population.
Data management experience and skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Experience providing individual assessments.
Experience managing electronic and paper-based data.
Typing skills of 50 wpm.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
Experience working with HIV STD or substance abuse prevention programs preferred.
Knowledge and demonstrated experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of relevance to the LGBTQ community.
Bilingual in English and Spanish with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience providing individual assessments.
Experience and interpersonal skills working with culturally and socially diverse community groups who are underserved; including and not limited to the LGBTQ community.
Must have a reliable form of transportation as travel to different sites within LA county may be required.


HOURS: 40 Hours - Some Weekends & Evenings required.
EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt
SALARY: $22.00 - $27.00 - Commensurate with education and experience.

Must be willing to travel between BIENESTAR centers and within the county and/or surrounding areas.
Must be willing to work evening hours and weekends.
